Surely if QAN doesn’t get ACCC clearance to buy AQZ then there will be a capital raise. My pick on timing is 12 months time once AQZ has got some profitability runs on the board and the share price has ticked up a little and the cashflow requirements of todays announcement ramp up. Otherwise, there’s no hope of any meaningful dividends for at least a couple, possibly three years.

I have to assume there is some firm plan on how these aircraft will be utilised, which presumably involves some comfort from QAN on flying them, rather than just saying they will be used across exiting operations. The existing E190 fleet is hardly being flown excessively so adding a large number of additional airframes hopefully isn’t occurring on a whim that the flying can be sold. If the E190’s were to be used as replacements for the F70’s and F100’s surely AQZ would just say so.

The other question for AQZ is what is the use of the wet leased aircraft after QAN’s fleet replacement has rolled out and the have their own A220’s delivered.

How is the fx risk on the purchase price being managed?

Hopefully we see an AQZ presentation to the market in the coming days.
