Four Corners last night discussed climate change and what farmers and cities such as Perth are doing to adjust to a reduction in rainfall.
Perth implemented a large De Sal plant some time ago and have a range of recycled water systems that filters water and then returns it into the artesian basin.
More locations around the world seem likely to face this problem, as whilst the Perth rainfall has dropped by 20% this has been compounded by an even more dramatic reduction in run off, due to less rain and higher temperatures.
I’m not sure who built the Perth infrastructure but clearly the issue won’t be isolated to just Perth, it was just described as the first place to suffer the extreme effects of climate change in this way.
The way the report was presented last night, suggested that this issue is here to stay, and can only create massive demand for water services from the likes of FLC and others.
