It is indeed exciting to learn more about the potentials as well as the implications of the projects in Cambodia. Sihanoukville in particular is a very interesting choice, a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) port city with lots of room to grow. Water and sanitation has been an issue and I am glad we are selected to address this most basic issue.
You have mentioned about Ream City. I was intrigued to learn that it will be built on reclaimed land and a city built from scratch. A $16b project that houses 135,000 residents and 330,000 new jobs. This will be a mega project that will probably be developed in many stages, and each phase will have new considerations as there will be new requirements by the customers.
Richard Irving and Henry previously have been beating the drum on decentralized model to new development of townships. In most of the presentations, there is an emphasis on the shift to decentralized systems. Why over spec a WWTP at the first phase of the development for a capacity to be fully utilized decades or so down the road? Our "add as you need" decentralized plants can be a value proposition to the developers. It will save on cost, and helps to manage cash flows better.
With our involvement in the PS1 and 2, and hopefully PS3 and 4, I do hope that we will have a chance to be the beachhead at Ream City. It will be the showcase to many more new township developments all round the world and hope making it a secular change in town planning.
