I too was a believer back in the day... Over the years I have been told by a number of different sources that Technegas will never be FDA approved. While this may be scuttlebutt, we all know the Technegas generator was invented in 1984 and first produced by Tetley in 1986. Since then CYC has not been the only party to have invested (squandered?) many many years and lots of dollars with no FDA approval, so at this stage the insiders and the doubters seem to be correct.
That said, there are signs that a change of heart is in the wind. Nuc Med physicians do get old and relax their entrenched positions as they shuffle off the scene, so deep seated opposition to Technegas may be weakening.
IMO, the biggest difference between prior and current operations is the involvement of Mathew Farag. I came across him years ago and he is one seriously tough nut who is steeped in this sector and knows how to screw a buck out of it. IMO James McBrayer is a lightweight..in fact a cruiserweight, because imo he has been cruising on autopilot for the past 10 years.
With Farag on the team, I reckon there is a much bigger chance of this thing going somewhere. Beefy, maybe even $5?? Maybe.
