Debasement there is historical precedent...ie Roman times adding copper to your silver/gold coinage. But I had bit thought about this... UK in 18 century went to huge debt.. they inflated their way out it and remonetised.. resulting in massive wealth destruction for the middle class.. but that is worst case scenario.. confidence in fiat currency will continue. Just look at Japan . it won't be end of the world.. we just end up with more deflation. And aging population..like what happening in China and Japan
