You seem to have taken my comment that I was, and equity managers on average are, no better at picking individual stocks than anybody else, and jumped to the conclusion that I struggle to beat the market. Fortunately, it has been possible to successfully invest in LICs at large discounts to NTA and profit from discount reduction. That this often often occurs after a period of poor market performance adds to the affect, It also means that you could even make good profits from these same average managers. And buy-backs weren't that common either. Sure, sometimes I buy a LIC / LIT in reduced amounts for some other reason and get it wrong, in the FOR case very wrong. Keeps me amused in retirement, if nothing else. Enough.
