Canada isn't some bizarre Mad Max wasteland, untouched by corporate law. Surely HoldCo takes on both the assets and liabilities of GSW? Or is the whole thing rigged as some dodgy asset purchase? Can't see how that would be allowed.

Arguably the plaintiffs might want the HoldCo thing to go ahead - it might be the only way to get some cash. Otherwise, at the rate GSW is going, plaintiffs may have to accept a settlement consisting of several kilometers of Serbian-made network and electric cables and free deliveries of sustainable meats from a choice of three different farm-to-table enterprises.
