Being careful would be my guess as to their intentions. I think Darren Smith is acting like a man completely overtaken by events. GW gave him a team with a lack of governance, risk and compliance and so forth so this type of thing is to be expected. They have difficulty understanding the rules, when they get a legal report, they keep it confidential, the governance is all-at-sea.

It has nothing to do with the science and the growth of the company, a bit of a distraction and Smith should get back to running a biopharma company IMHO but pls DYOR with excellent potential in treating liver cancer.
