Allied Resource Partners (ARP) is a private Australian company owned predominately by employees, with its head office located in Sydney.ARP’s vision is to become a preferred resource partner with two key objectives:
- to support energy and mining companies by accelerating the development of high-quality assets, and
- to bring investment opportunities and supply security to investment partners, government and industry.
ARP’s current focus is identifying, acquiring and developing assets and related infrastructure in Australia/New Zealand and very selectively in other parts of the world. Our financing activities are global.ARP recognised that the global financial crisis would have profound aftershocks in the financial and real economy, severely limiting the capital available to small resource companies. These companies face the challenge of advancing successful, but still early-stage, exploration projects through all the increasingly capital-intensive phases towards full-scale production and cash flows.ARP wishes to be seen as a ‘one-stop shop’ for small companies requiring a large investment partner to mitigate the risks associated with cyclic capital raisings, which dilute shareholders and distract management. We aim to provide some or all of the following:
- capital at the holding company level
- investment at the project level to support scoping and bank feasibility studies
- debt financing and off-take agreements
- investment in infrastructure necessary to support a new project
- stronger boards and project technical teams.
ARP’s investment timeframes are long-term as we seek to develop low-cost projects to gain access to long-dated cash flows. We have a meticulous and focused investment decision process, and therefore encourage early-stage dialogue in order to ascertain accurately the company’s management and strategy aspirations, as well as understand in detail the technical and social issues of each specific project. This is a critical part of our risk mitigation efforts. Our project co-funders also have long investment timeframes and take considerable time to make informed decisions. No project is too large, as we have access to a large range of co-investors who can bring significantly more than simply funding to a project.Much of what we do is confidential, and our co-investors seek a high level of trust and confidentiality until any deals are completed.
