Now, thats what I call flying under the radar.
Brisbane is sensible and probably surprisingly expedient if there is land and ports for the plant ... it is but the soon to be approved Lions Way Pipeline from pipedream to likely reality.
Remember, at Ipswich, the Lions Way connects with the existing Roma to Brisbane pipeline and I'd bet my left one that would terminate in close proximity to to industrial land and port facilities in Brisbane.
What chance this option per tonne of LNG produced is cheaper and easier to resource than building pipelines all over the Surat Basin to Gladstone and constructing an LNG plant in Gladstone?
What chance Morton Basin conventional gas and dry coal CSG, both of which are more environmentally friendly than wet coal CSG which is the backbone of GLNG will also provide significant cost savings?
Byron Bay is not all that far removed in residents and affluence to Malibu in the US ... and we all know what happened to BHPs LNG proposal off the Malibu coast when nimby incensed actors got involved.
Nah ... its Brisbane imo.
I get the feeling LNG the Company may only be in the game with MEL to point out the bleedingly obvious to blinkered players who to date have only had eyes for Gladstone?
