The problem with generating electricity using hydrogen as a fuel...

The problem with generating electricity using hydrogen as a fuel is that the current hydrogen producing technology is very energy intensive. To make hydrogen requires more energy than what the hydrogen can provide back as energy. Maybe if they use excess solar or wind power to split the hydrogen and store it. Then that would be very good, because at this time energy is very difficult to store. Coal and oil as a fuel source is useful because it already has the energy collected and stored. I'm not trying to suggest that we should stick with coal and oil and not waste our time with alternative energy. I'm just saying there are still heaps of discoveries which are required before we can switch to a cleaner power source.
