to simply put it, it's because quality over quantity. For example, if you post a logo-design project for $10, you'll at least receive 100 entries for it. But all from low-income countries... Also more qualified and experienced freelancers will not bother posting an entry. Try posting a logo design contest for $100, you will receive hundreds of entries but you will immeidately notice the difference in quality. So you will start posting less projects with higher award. Most existing project posters are leaning towards quality over quantity these days. It may look small but is one of the most difficult handicaps the FLN had to overcome in the past years.
