Well, MC is currently just AU$44M (@ SP = 3.5c), compared to an addressable market projected to be circa US$380M by 2025. This is in applications across 3 market sectors: Industrial, Scientific & Biotech, for the wavelengths currently under development. Total global laser diode market is projected to reach US$26B by 2025.
I'll leave you to do the math on that.
Really it is anyone's guess. A lot depends on the level of market penetration that BLG can achieve. However, there is reason for optimism as they have few competitors, and are executing a strategy of focusing on under-served wavelengths. They are also engaging closely with customers to develop new form factors that better meet their needs.
Another thing to consider is that this is a high margin market with high barriers to entry.
First shipments will hopefully occur this financial year. If not, then early next financial year. They will initially launch products in the 404 nm and 420 nm wavelengths. These are in the violet part of the visible spectrum. Further wavelengths in blue and green are in various stages of development.
The existing development pipeline probably takes us out at least to to the end of FY 2025. Looking further ahead, the company's proprietary RPCVD technology permits the manufacture of new types of laser diode, including higher brightness designs and tunnel junction laser diodes. The application of this technology could produce products that trump the competition in existing markets, and open up new applications for laser diodes.
