Not unheard of. During the great bull market of the 1970's early buyers(and in some cases even those fairly late to the game, were receiving divi's greater than their initial purchase price for years. I think we shall see a repeat performance.
Don't forget that even though the metals topped in January 1980 the shares continued to rise in many cases into 1982
