It'd be a death sentence for the American economy. They purchase $2k of Chinese products per year per person. It'd be $4k/person at American costs. You can't just bring that much production online at the flick of a switch. Particularly not in a country full of old baby boomers looking to retire.

Needless to say, even if it was enacted it would only last as long as Americans can last without the new iPhone and Samsung phones given both rely on Chinese parts.

Thinking about it with a rational mind I'm a little less scared... still doesn't stop milder forms of stupidity.
