As the population increases all the new humans need to sleep somewhere.
A recession is more likely to lower the price of everything, and non essential things will be the first things not to be purchased.
Houses built by HX do not need to be bought. They can be leased, rented, etc.
On one hand we hear that the HX is the answer to social housing and then on the other hand we hear FBR will suffer in a recession because no one buys houses, and the HX will not need to build houses.
These two hands are inconsistent with each other.
Why?
Houses built in social housing developments are not purchased by the occupier.
What do good Governments do to get an economy out of a recession? They look for ways to stimulte the economy.
Look at Labor's reasons for their spending in the GFC.
Look at the Marshal program after WWII to get Europes economy going again.
Look at the New Deal programs during the 30's that FDR implemented to get the USA going again.
Anyone think Labor messed up the GFC?
Look at this graph for Australian Construction Output.
Notice there is no dip in 2008 when the GFC hit the world?
