Main elements I have found to explain the regularity of their performance, apart from the stock picking skills of Rajiv Jain :
- no particular style, so they can perform both when the market is more keen to buy growth stocks, and when it is more value oriented,
- great ability to pick the right sectors in their different strategies, as well as the right countries for emerging markets.
My favourite trade in this sector remains to be long GQG and short PNI, as it enables to have a neutral exposure to the sector, while playing the difference of valuation between the 2 companies. Given the difference of growth and ROE, I still do not get why PNI has a premium versus GQG.
Since GQG IPO (in Oct 21), it has outperformed PNI by 38 %. It looks logical to expect further outperformance (vs PNI) for GQG.
