It's a safe bet that PJ's time at the helm of RES was not in vain, especially considering his bloated annual salary and a huge redundancy payout. Anyway, good luck to him. He was the messiah for many years and I wish him well.
Sadly, I really can't see a future where coal prices rebound to the point where investment money flows back into the sector. With that in mind, I expect the likes of PIC, Noble and the SA Govt to buyout the remaining RES stock at a ridiculously low price once a finance deal is inked. Maybe they'll offer a pissy little premium to the 10 day vwap when the time comes, but it'll only amount to chicken-feed for most investors.
Would love to hear comments on this from some of the long-term RES holders/posters who seem to have gone into hiding over the past 6 months.
