Sounds like you were caught off guard by the Hamish issues, which sucks. Not much you can do there really, obviously there was a key man risk, but I doubt anyone thought he'd blow up in space of a year or so.
Unfortunately when a guru departs it takes a lot of the story/hype with them.
I think the problem MFG have got now is if you go around any of the Australian finance/money forums or forums with a finance section, if anyone asks about investing people start spitting out Vanguard ETF tickers. Vanguard now have an unpaid marketing army out there now encouraging inflows. No one mentions active, let alone one charging over 1%, that's heresy.
