I like to see what the underlying performance of each holding is doing and how selections are tracking comparative to other Fund Managers (GQG, Munro Partners and Hyperion). MGOC doesn't mark to NAV each day and is typically lagging too, it is supply and demand based versus actual NAV.
It is not an exact replica of what Magellan's underlying portfolio is doing and will be lagging. For example, would Magellan still be holding NFLX after disastrous earnings announcement, did they anticipate this and sell out early? Only able to tell next quarter.
The other key aspect that I track is future holdings performance against current and forecast EPS from Yahoo Finance. Again not an exact science, but it is clear based on what I track any downside risk or future performance based on reversion to average PE Ratios.
