This is the difference between an ignorant index that will buy everything the higher it gets and index agnostic active manager that seeks to absolute gains for its investors whether markets go up or down.
Brains sometimes looks stupid compared to computer program bits, but in the long run a weighing machine will out perform a voting machine, as the Oracle once said.
Who can fathom why over $100m of investor capital was pulled out in January? I would be interested what they decided was better than what they had. But there's no accounting for human foibles or folly.
