Nearly no fund manager outperforms their respective benchmark overtime and those that do is due to luck... when they temporarily do.
With the bull market over, people will soon loose faith in their own investing abilities and holding index funds. MFG will eventually hit a lucky patch and will attract inflows once more. Despite FUM outflows, FUM is still sticky, they'll be around for their next lucky streak in which they will once again obtain FUM inflow.
Buy fund managers when they are having an unlucky streak AND whilst the market trashes the stocks multiple.
