That argument stands up ok when you’re talking about a ‘balanced ETF’ versus, say, a direct investment in the Magellan Global Fund (MGF)
But here we’re talking about MFG - the controlling company which has a range of other irons in the fire other than just being a fund manager.
MFG has in my view been beaten down below fair value so if I think the MFG sp will grind back to be $50 by 2023 why wouldn’t I prefer it to a ‘balanced ETF’ ? (I mean I’d stand to make a 43% capital gain plus 5% to 6% dividends along the way)
