In terms of performing poorly, Magellan’s had underlying performance issues for more than a year now due to its stock selection process. The fundamental issue is that Magellan’s addressable market is fixed and Magellan has reached its FUM capacity, it can’t hide poor performance with FUM inflows anymore. This is why fundamentally the share price has dropped and will continue to.
Note, these are fundamental business issues (just to state the obvious) and will impact the long term performance of the Fund Management business, not day to day trading.
