There is no such thing as a "good analyst" because analysts, like sports players, eventually lose their edge. Sometimes you're at the top of your game - and suddenly you aren't, for whatever reason (age, injury, life event etc.). S&P data shows that most fund managers across all the major asset classes, we're taking 70-90% of them, fail to beat the market over a 10-year period.

The data shows that you can have a great run at beating the market for 3-5 years, but eventually enough mistakes are made that alpha reverts to beta over a decade-plus period.

Your comment also shows a complete lack of understanding about this business and funds management. Beating the market is only part of the story - but it's that along with your MARKETING that actually gets you new money. Magellan needs NEW money + OUT performance to actually grow its profits. Right now it's not doing BOTH

You're just unfortunately not understanding or appreciating the mountain Magellan has to climb to get out of this mess that it's not worth the risk. Good luck to you sir.
