BHP would definitely notice 500 million....but the bigger thing is... even if it was half that amount , and the project proved uneconomic, people involved at bhp would probably loose their job for wasting the company’s money. that's how it works, and that's why they people at thise company’s can't take a punt. they would rather pay 10x that for a stake in something that is proven up..imo
