Modern mining methods should not change the head grade of ore delivered to the mill, however better mining methods will reduce the mining cost.
I probably didn't elaborate enough regarding head grade and milling. Mills are configured for the average grade over the life of a mine. The head grade is part of that along with the metallurgy results are used to optimise the mill configuration for that particular ore blend. Every orebody is unique and also often changes its characteristics as it is mined. Things like % gravity recovery vary throughout the orebody as do the optimal grind size for leaching. Eventually the optimal configuration is determined and the mill is built, or tweaked at a later stage. If that particular mill is optimised for a head grade of say 3gpt, introducing 15gpt ore will require slowing the circuit down to maximise gold recovery(otherwise gold is going out to the tailings dam). Conversely, lowering the head grade from the optimal may allow the circuit to be sped up.
My other point was about under utilised mills. For example GMD in the Dec24 quarter reported a milling cost of approx $25 per tonne. Lets say they charge $60 per tonne to mill someone elses ore, they will make $35 per tonne, whereas processing theor own ore they make $108 per tonne(all figures approx and from GMD report and subject to me making errors)
As a shareholder I would prefer they treated their own ore first and gave me a return on my investment.
The best scenario for GG8 would be a third party processor buying the ore from Vivien or CV at an agreed head grade, with the processor then blending GG8 ore with their own ore. Usually in these scenarios GG8 would take a small haircut on the agreed headgrade, however cash would be forthcoming upon completion of milling and despite our healthy cash position, all those rigs drilling away chew through cash faster than politicians in election season.
