It would be a bit nutty to expect four dollars a share or whatever. Sales tend to use share price as a reference point and the share price is some version of the market telling the world how much it's worth. Unhinged volatility that seems to come out of nowhere, like from pump and dumping traders, makes it hard for investors to identify a 'genuine' price point to assess as being on the money or not. What the technology is 'worth' is sort of half-baked nonsense - 4DS could not have been clearer that they aren't going to be the ones to achieve that end of the day value, so if you want a part of that action you need to buy, whatever, Western Digital maybe, after they've bought this. For our part, the value comes down to exactly 2 things: Does a company assess that they can buy this with the funds that they have with the reasonable expectation that they can use it in a profitable way? and Does at least one other company feel the same way such that they would be willing to compete on the price? This is where that 'the technology is worth' conversation CAN make a contribution - communicating to potential buyers to get a yes to one or both of those questions. It's debatable whether a lower share price makes it more attractive to consider the proposition and draw more attention to the second question, but the final result is still likely to be relative to the share price, so yeah, if you're an investor, having a higher share price is a good thing.
