Yes - it's been a strange line of argument. I would think that WD would be more interested in this than ever!
Consider their core business is memory, and vast amounts of flash SSD in data centres:
Anything that could give them an edge would be on their radar, and considering the variety of possibilities that exist with the mix of characteristics, reram memory would be a huge advantage over the field.
Not to mention the server board memory which I am sure they would be interested in producing - perhaps a complete server/storage design utilising reram with varying characteristics to push servers even faster.
The possibilities are endless.
