Bornite is reactive, it tarnishes rapidly when exposed to air/oxygen and changes colour to that shown in the Monty example that I posted. That is fact. As I’ve explained some forms don’t tarnish as rapidly due to a number of reasons but the underlying physical reason is that the ratio of Fe and Cu in the crystal lattice does not abide exactly to the minerlas chemical formula Cu5FeS4, there are excesses and deficeincies of atoms in the crystal lattice that change the ratio of Cu and Fe slightly and this changes its electronic properties, hence chemical properties. This type of sulphide is known as non-stoichiometric compound. Don’t insult me and call me crazy because you don’t understand want I’m saying. I won’t be insulted like that or waste my time in arguments with you, so on ignore you go (number 3).
If a company puts a photo up of material it has brought up out of the ground and claims it is a
“strong copper sulphide (bornite and chalcopyrite) mineralisation in a magnetite‐skarn at 20.5m to 30.1m down‐hole depth”
then anyone one has the right to question that photo and do research to satisfy themselves of the truth of this statement.
Let’s wait and see if this is payable ore or not. I personally don’t think it is. If it is we are talking 1-2% Cu in my opinion so it’s payabilty will still depend on any number of variables. Save your laughing for when the results come out. Esh
