They are NOT redesigning the wheel - read the announcement - they are doing multiple tweaks to an EXISTING process (as mentioned in the announcement) that in combination gives them a much better result to SIGNIFICANTLY reduce OPEX
If they feel they should protect these so called tweaks via Patent or whatever then so be it.
We are talking about a lot of money here not lunch money
