I read teh other day that 20% of electricity generated in Ireland is consumed by data centres. And that is before AI. I think the article was saying that the Irish government is limiting the number / size of data centres.
Australia will miss out on the AI ‘Industrial Revolution’ if it continues to limit its electricity options. Data centres run all night as does AI systems. So we will have to ration electricity in the future.
