The syntax is interesting in this announcement, they executed a “Supporting Participant Agreement”. What exactly happens here? Does the CRC fund ECT or the other way round.
And just an interesting little science question. It says Hydrogen is not a fuel rather a it is a store of energy. I’m not saying ECT said this, albeit they did, but I reckon it’s wrong.
The definition of a fuel is something that is burnt to produce heat or energy. Hydrogen is burnt with air (oxygen) to produce heat (blue flame) just like any other hydrocarbon.
It is just the most basic hydrocarbon that has no carbon:
Hydrogen: H2
Methane: CH4
Ethane: C2H6
Ethylane, Petrol, Diesel, Oil, Coal, Trees etc
Hydrogen is pure fuel. It’s what the sun is made of. It’s what glues Carbon Oxygen and Nitrogen together to make trees (photosynthesis = light synthesising CO2 plus H2O into wood) which becomes coal oil and gas.
H2 is most definitely a fuel.
Rockets blasting through earths atmosphere escaping gravity burn solid hydrogen with oxygen. They are called solid hydrogen rocket boosters.
The chemical reaction for burning Hydrogen is:
2H2 + O2 = 2H2O + heat
