Ann: FXL - deferral of interim dividend, page-11

I once held shares in a more dubious (financially) company, they sold off some mining holdings and declared a dividend, then soon after deferred it, and I posted something to the effect that we would never see a penny from it. I got attacked by a number of posters who took the word 'deferral' literally but I was right. The company can continue to defer indefinitely or cancel it. In the case of FXL, they are in a stronger financial position, they have options - they can pay the March divvy in October, but not declare an October dividend at all. Or they can defer it again or cancel it (doubtful) and pay nothing in October, or they can declare a much smaller October dividend in addition to the March deferral (possible) or declare a full October dividend (very doubtful) in addition to the overdue March dividend. So we wait and see, but I'm more hopeful about this company than I was about the other one that never paid a penny in dividends.
