"The luxury of holding a speccy, over a long time period, that may or may not make it, is something that some may not have, due to financial constraints. To these investors you can say, as you said, 'sorry for your loss', appropriate comment expressing empathy, disparaging remarks not so 'appropriate'.

To those who invest in the micro-cap end of town on less than a 5 - 8 year investment horizon and sell in despair, it is very much a case of 'sorry for your loss', but also, 'sorry than you didn't match your investments with your tolerance for risk, and investment timeframe'. We only ever have ourselves to blame (or congratulate) for our decisions and that is why you won't ever find me bitter and twisted about the outcome. Hopefully, those that have had expensive lessons are able to make better future decisions that will ultimately reward them in excess of the rewards they would have gained had they not had to endure those hard lessons.
