What would happen to the TPG as a company if he stood down, it would be difficult for anyone to take over from him because its a weak board, and the company has been dependent on him for so long. He might have a good record, but nobody is infallible, and there are legitimate concerns about his recent decisions.
Vocus board looks quite strong right now IMO, its been through a period of renewal, there is a diverse range of people with a lot of experience, very impressive CFO, industry veteran tipped to takeover as chairman, even a possible replacement for Horth in Michael Simmons. Its very robust.
Horth has been in charge in a difficult time, and he has to wear a lot of responsibility for not doing the 'vital few' things that caused the integration delays, but it was a complex task he had integrating 4 companies.
Vocus has been through a period of intense introspection, and there is a lot of increased transparency now, hard to imagine any skeleton left. TPG is a mystery to everyone except Teoh. At the end of the day Vocus could change CEO with minimal drama, TPG couldnt.
