I'm definitely an SOB but i try not to be grumpy Regarding the state of the world, I think that compared with the past the state of the world is better than people perceive it to be and will perhaps grow brighter still. Steven Pinker has just written a book ('Enlightenment Now') on this taking an objective look at the data around current world progress towards enlightenment values (such as science, equality, social progress, etc) and coming to an optimistic conclusion. I haven't read it yet but some of his past work has been good.
Totally agree with your comment regarding diversity of opinion but we desperately need to get this message board back on topic and talking about the company.
(I've had to hold my tongue quite a bit to try and achieve this end)
