If you are going to dig down to this level you also want to understand the differences and pros and cons of using a DMA or an IMA and tax plus buy/sell cost effective offers in the market as this may influence who does best in platform space.
These also address custodial issues.
Sometimes the advantage of one over another is overrated. But the IMA concept does have the greatest flexibility IMO.
