Problem is, as they have found in UK, socialised medicine destroys the governments finances and the health outcomes are worse than in other comparable countries.

Nothing is "free", (well air maybe, but filtered d/heated air can cost you dearly). But everyone likes "free stuff" until they realise that like Google it comes with its own baggage. Certainly the Doctors, Nurses, Cleaners and Adminstrators do not work as volunteers, so our health system is actually very expensive. Go to any Bulk billing medical practice and the waitiing rooms are full all day, with people waiting for a 5 minute consult with a doctor who may not have shaved and is offering antibiotics when inappropriate, eg for a virus, and wont feel like theyve done the job without you walking out with a presecriptionj to buy subsidised drugs that are bad for you. Still MP's feel like Medicare is a sacred cow, and you can lose an election over a rumoured change to the system, even a very modest co-payment of $5.

I much prefer a user pays approach. My doctor charges well over the standard fee, and returns emails etc. The last bulk bill doctor I saw was a nice guy, but never answered emails and the staff are not too bright.

US voters rejected Obamacare or Hilary would be running for re-election. They like their private insurance system, which costs less than Obamacare. There is a safety net called Medicaid.

If Biden gets in the whole system will collapse under a wave of immigration and free ehalt care for non-citizens, pretty much where we are headed if not careful at next poll.
