Strange: "If I was going to put those big suckers anywhere it would be in the bight and on the western Australian continental shelf. The roaring forties have a lot of Coriolis energy and no lad masses to slow them down. Preferably on the coast near some big smelters, mines or cities and their power channels."
Sadly, the E Australian grid most western point is about Port Augusta SA. Port Lincoln and SW SA grid is very fragile. If the 330Kv Robertstown SA to Wagga interconnect hits FID, it will enable many wind and solar projects along its route through the desert. I hope IFN has a few wind projects here ready to go.
Elsewhere, you may recall my assertion that coal generators will be uneconomic in five years, driven to close by their high cost base. This US analysis supports my argument.

IFN could well be pushing on an open door. Investment plans for batteries, big wind turbines or pumped hydro anywhere with easy grid connection will fly.
The silence is deafening over at GNX, struggling to line up a PPA partner and enough own-equity to fund Kidtson. While there is no reason to think IFN could beat AGL or ORI in an auction, GNX would be a tasty addition to kit. GNX down to 17.5c -5% today, with no end in sight.
