That's the trick natnicnak ... what can they realise those 'for sale' assets for?

My bet is that their realisation value won't be nearly what they are on the balance sheet for, otherwise they would have already have been sold.

Operationally, what can also happen (if sub-consciously) is that once assets are ear-marked for sale management loses focus on strategically managing product lines / brand value and over time the performance of those assets deteriorates - thus becoming less and less attractive for potential buyers.
