WHC have been buying back shares, and recently announced (Sept 21) they will be seeking approval to purchase up to 25% of shares on issue over the next 12 months (in both on and off market buybacks). That might explain the recent outperformance.
Plus they have higher quality coal and longer life assets but that is well known so would already be factored in.
