FY2022 was a complete anomaly - which I don't think the market cares about anyway.
Looking forward: $400m buyback = @ let's say an average of $20.75 = 19,277,108 shares.
Shares on issue before: 455,566,042
Shares on issue after: 436,288,934
Looking at a 4.2% return just from the buyback.
Plus, an additional $0.50 per year = ~ 2.4% (not inclusive of franking credits) @ a share price of $20.75
6.4% return p.a. excl share price fluctuations.
Certainly beats the bank - I'm happy holding and topping up in market downturns.
