Transalloys expected to shut
Tranalloys is expected to close its remaining silicomanganese furnace in the next few weeks after previously shutting four units. A combination of high ore and power prices and transportation woes all contributed to the smelter's shutdown. This comes after South32 sold its closed Metalloys smelter but the new owners hope to restart that plant.
