Wooster, while many of us would agree with you on the advantage of a new CEO, I have been considering the flip side.
1. Despite his failings, Karl is emotionally invested in the company, so that is a plus.
2. A competent CEO in the IT space does not come cheap.
3. This could possibly lead to some internal conflict or duplication of effort.
4. Forced 'coach' transitions rarely happen smoothly.
5. He has by now probably learnt (lets hope so) what works and what does not.
Maybe run with the known devil for a little longer.
