All courier companies are experiencing delays. Online shopping has never been resourced to cope with Greater Sydney and Greater Melbourne (about 10.7 million residents, plus many more in other parts of NSW/Vic) being concurrently in lockdown? And why would it be: it is neither 'normal' nor was an event like this expected (except for an arcane Federal government report of a few years ago almost totally ignored by media.
AP isn't perfect, but if State governments insist on say 100 staff at a sorting centre isolating if just one is found to have the virus, what can intermediaries like AP and competitors do? Notably, we never insisted that people isolate for a fortnight when a fellow employee contracted influenza and brought it to work at an office, factory or other place. However, with this coronavirus, politicians and unelected public servants such as chief health officers are in full panic mode, despite (to date) the vast majority of deaths (RIP) being in persons aged 75 and above. The median age of death from this COVID-19 virus is 85, above standard life expectancy for Australian males and even females.
AP subsidiary StarTrack seems the least affected by delays. Maybe it has separate depots to its parent?
Unlike AP, some competitors have a poor network of dropoff points for parcels should delivery not be obtained on the first (and often only) attempt at a residential or office address. This can be especially inconvenient for many older residents, plus those who either choose not to or can't afford to have a motor vehicle.
