That's not how the law works in all cases. Theft or fraud, yes. However you, the part owner, as with all shareholders employ these people. Your company is being taken to court. If fraud or theft was the case, previous employees who committed fraud could be charged. In this case the business is being taken to task for unethical treatment of franchisees, who have allegedly suffered harm or loss. A bad example is if a forklift driver damages a truck, his employer is liable for the damages and loss of income, maybe compensation if said truck loses customers because of time, not working. Employer can try for recompense from the forklift driver if for instance the forklift driver failed a drug test after said accident. The laws and rules that apply to this situation is complicated and can drag on. I'm not a fan of rfg but I like to make $ and do believe I can make lots here but I'm waiting until the negative historical crap is resolved.
