As an aside. There is a very well developed system of futures and forward sales that essentially allows speculators and producers to come together to fix the future price for gold at a given date which allows producers have a level of certainty in determining their margin for the laborious and risky endeavour of turning those sampled grades into bullion that can be moved around the world on short notice. Use of it is much maligned on HC (mainly when the price is going up).
I'm being tongue in cheek but its' my turn.
