1. Choice - less than the Big 2, but sufficient. Do you really need 10 brands to choose from? I top up at the Big 2, but Aldi gets 85%+ of my grocery spend. Some of their items are better quality too.
2. Opening hours are limited? You can shop at Aldi pretty well same hours as the other two , ie 7 days a week..Seriously, you need to shop after 8 pm? Wow a 9pm close is so important, right?
3. Check outs - thes queues are faster than the Big 2 every time. They open checkout dynamically as soon as one checkout looks to be getting too big. Aslo Aldi customers are polite and let people with only a few items in front of them.
4. Aldi owners are wealthy, So I wont buy? Lol, are you serious? Do you really think Wesfarmers shareholders and directors are poor? If the owners are foreign, they still pay tax here on their Austrlaian business.Its not about that, its about where their items are made. Most of their goods are Australian made, so they generate work and profits locally.
I save about 33% going to Aldi. (proven over 10 years in a spreadsheet) And you get European quality confectionery at Aussie prices.Win win. Anyone who shops at Coles Woolies must have more money than sense.
Its sounds like you're one of these people who keeps running to the shops for a one or two items, so yeah keep using Coles/Woolies self serve. But I think eventually Aldi and Costco will poach other stores customers. Coles hasnt performed all that well in the last 2 financial years either probably because they are losing market share.
