The biggest issue I see is there seems to be some sort of environment with both major supermarkets where they see the customer in a hostile light.
The customers really don't like the new tech and don't find it convenient and running paid newspaper ads to try and convince them otherwise is not working. 5 minutes on google, read any article or hop on social media and read what customers really think.
That aside, I don't underestimate how much people like convenience. It's a lifestyle change to go to a fresh fruit and veg grocer, then a butcher, then several other shops to get everything you want. But it can be cheaper and better quality.
So the question becomes how many people do that. Actually a very interesting conversation from a socio-economic perspective to think about.
